Who Must Comply

Under the AODA.all Ontario businesses with more than one employee are already required to comply with new accessibility laws related to Customer Service.

Businesses with more than 20 employees have an additional filing responsibility with the Government of Ontario.

In addition, businesses with more than 50 employees must now be complying with the Integrated Accessibility Standard, covering Information & Communication, Employment Equity, and Transportation have also begun coming into effect.

All businesses providing goods or services to the public or to third parties in Ontario are legally required to comply with the requirements of the AODA. Designated public sector organizations have additional obligations under the Act.

On-going standards will be developed under the AODA and implemented progressively with the goal of an accessible Ontario by 2025.
